This automation tracks the product status transition from draft to published by listening to the product update event. Every time the product is updated, the workflow checks to see if the previous state was draft and if the current state is published. If the condition passes, it executes an action of your choice.
For existing products, the workflow needs to fire one time to start tracking the product's status before it will start performing actions. Any product update will trigger the state to be set, including products being sold.
To be set up perfectly from the start, switch the trigger on this workflow to on-demand, and run it as a batch against all your products. Once the batch completes, switch the trigger to product creation and update. Once the batch completes, the current status of all products will be logged in the database, and the workflow will work as expected on all products.
